Weekly Synopses! #2
Hello New & Returning Viewers,
As you know, we will be posting synopses from students and professionals regarding to their experiences at the ALPFA National Convention. I have done some serious persuading to students on a 1:10 basis…just kidding…no I am serious! And it came to my attention that a few students were asking the following questions:
What ALPFA QC get out of this? absolutely nothing! Why ALPFA QC doing this? to encourage everyone to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity, which is why the Director of IT (aka me) sacrifices his time (billiards, billiards, and more billiards) to make these synopses more entertaining (at least I think they are…) in order to grab your attention and hopefully persuade you (and you and you) to attend!
If you have any questions, you may comment on this post, and/or contact us by clicking me!
Our next person is:
Debra Lopez
She is a former president for ALPFA QC Chapter, and currently studying for her CPA (good luck!). She is a wonderful person to talk to, and always manage to find the time to help us. Without further ado, let’s give a warm welcome to Debra!
(cheers in the background…)
QC: Hello Debra, so tell us, how did the ALPFA National Convention impact you?
Debra: The ALPFA Convention is the best thing that happened to me in terms of career development. The 2008 and 2009 Conventions helped me develop my networking skills to the maximum-
QC: Hold on, you went to both 2008 and 2009 Conventions! How did you like the 2008 Convention?
Debra: The 2008 National Convention took place in Arizona, I networked so much more than I ever had the opportunity to. The professionals were willing to invest in the future of their companies that I was able to use the great networking skills I gained through ALPFA to get a spot interview with one of the Big Four, which later became an internship.
QC: Now that was a great achievement, and we would like to congratulate you! If any of you envy her, well don’t be, because this opportunity may happen to you! Any last words before we take a break?
Debra: The convention is so resourceful that it gives you the tools to perform a great interview and interact with professionals. I encourage you all to attend the Convention- you will gain a lot of corporate experience! I am off to my full-time position as an auditor with the Big 4- till next time!
QC: On that lovely note, we would like to thank Debra again for taking the time to share her experiences with the ALPFA Conventions. And if you were paying attention, she attended the 2009 Convention despite the fact she had a full-time offer, which goes to prove how rewarding this experience is!
***Stay tuned tomorrow, we will have another candidate speak about his/her experience!***

Excellent post!
