Weekly Synopses! #1

Posted by QCKNIGHT Link to this post

Hello Viewers,

If you are viewing this page, chances are, you are interested in attending the ALPFA National Convention and would like to get some feedback from professionals and students. Fortunately, we have gathered a list of people who are interested in sharing their experiences, and we are going to post them on this page on a weekly basis! If you have any questions for us and/or one of the people giving their synopsis, please contact us by clicking me!

Our first person is:

iPhone Style...

Yos Bugallo

She is the Director of Student Programs for the ALPFA NY board, and currently works at Ernst & Young under Campus Inclusiveness Recruiting. She is a friendly person, always excited to see new faces, and of course, interested in knowing what other student chapters are doing…, anyhow, without further ado, we welcome Yos to the stage to talk about her experience at an ALPFA National Convention!!!

(hands clapping in the background…)

QC: Hello Yos, thank you for taking the time to address our curiosities. Due to the lack of time, why don’t we start and end (every ending is just a beginning) with, how you felt about the ALPFA National Convention, and how had it impacted your life?

Yos: As a professional and member of the NY chapter board, attending the ALPFA national convention is the highlight of my year as I get to see my ALPFA familia live and in action. From networking events, to dinners and workshops, I meet new members every time I attend that become an invaluable part of my ALPFA network, and have the opportunity to reconnect with those that have helped me in my own career path. Each year, I walk away inspired to continue the mission of ALPFA, to build connections amongst my own community, and to strive for excellence in my personal and professional life. Perhaps this is what happens when over 2,000 Latino leaders join forces for 4 days…

Another rewarding part of attending the convention is getting to meet our up and coming ALPFA stars – our students! Although the convention culminates in a career fair each year, the true value of the convention comes in learning about the latest topics in the professional workshops, meeting ALPFA members at your target companies, or very simply, meeting individuals that can become your mentors in the years to come.

QC: Wow, now that’s a lot of information to take in, of course, it is recommended to attend this wonderful event instead of listening (reading…) about it. Before we end our conversation, are there any suggestions and/or recommendations for students who are attending for their first time?

Yos: If you decide to attend the convention this year, bring your resume, your notepad, your salsa shoes, and lots of energy!

QC: Thank you so much for your feedback, and your suggestions. We will now postpone the next person so that we have time to buy a pair of salsa shoes… If you have any questions for us and/or Yos, you may do so by posting as well!!!

(Hm…, this will give me an edge for salsa…, but I have no clue how to salsa…)

Stay tuned next week with our next person. Thank you for reading!
